Water Saving Tips to Help you Save Money
November 20, 2015
We are all looking to try to save money on our home utility bills whether it be with heating, A/C, or electricity, but the one area that most of our customers tend to miss when it comes to cutting back is their water. Just a few adjustments here and there can save you some decent change at the end of each month. Here are some water saving tips to help you save money.
Be mindful when washing dishes
One of the most wasteful practices in our homes is washing the dishes with running water. This is absolutely not necessary. Fill up the sink, pour some soap in and wash the dishes in the pool of water. Once it starts to get too dirty, empty it and fill it up just a little bit again. Repeat until finished. Wash big things in the sink to save space in your dishwasher so you don’t have to run it so often.
Install water-efficient products
You might not realize it, but most of your water usage probably comes from things around your home like the toilet, shower, and sink. In fact, a relatively small amount is actually used for consumption. Water-efficient products are recommended by the government, and can save you a lot on your bills. Try showerheads, toilets, faucets and others around your home.
Wash clothes only when necessary
People in the modern world tend to be a bit skittish when it comes to hygiene. Most of us really overreact. You don’t need to wash something every time you wear it. If you wear a pair of jeans out one night, fold them up and put them back. Even shirts can be re-worn. Only wash when you have to like when they were used for work, exercise, or smell bad. This will save plenty of loads of laundry each month.
If you are like most of our customers, then you are trying to cut back on bills in your home. It’s only natural. You’d be surprised at how much you could save just by making these common sense adjustments.
